Inter gets into the quarter-finals of the Europa League

Getafe 2-0 in the 1/8 round of the Europa League on neutral ground AufSchalke, Inter won the spot in the quarterfinals.

Romelu Lukaku became the highlight of the match with the 30th goal for Inter this season. He also scored in the eighth consecutive match in the Europa League, including a series of five shootings for the Everton 2014-2015 season. The Belgian striker leveled Alan Shearer’s record with Newcastle in the 2005 UEFA Cup.

Coach Antonio Conte kept the team that won Atalanta 2-0 in round 38 of Serie A last weekend, while Getafe used a 4-5-1 diagram that was more defensive. The club from Spain always plays a defensive counterattack uncomfortable. Right from the start, they almost punished the mistake of the Inter defense, but striker Jaime Mata missed Nyom’s crossbar.

A few minutes later, goalkeeper Samir Handanovic had to break down the dangerous header of Nemanja Maksimovic. Mata was also given another chance by Marc Cucurella, but this time his shot was blocked by young defender Alessandro Bastoni.

It was not until the 25th minute that Inter created the first chance. Lautaro Martinez dribbled past two players, invaded the penalty area, and then shot, which made the goalkeeper Soria have to collapse all the time to push the ball out. The game turned around.

Eight minutes later, Inter took the lead. Bastoni sent the ball up from the back of the pitch for Lukaku. The Belgian striker shielded strongly against defender Xabi Etxeita, then sank diagonally to subdue the goalkeeper, Soria. Lukaku became the fourth player to score at least 30 goals a season for Inter in the last 30 years, after Samuel Eto’o, Ronaldo and Diego Milito.

Shortly thereafter, Inter had a great opportunity to increase the score to 2-0, but Lukaku cushioned the ball from Barella’s clear pass. But Conte did not have to wait long to rejoice.

A few minutes after coming on, Christian Eriksen scored a goal after Djene Dakonam’s awful strike. The situation stemmed from the horizontal fruit of D’Ambrosio, after the coordinating phase of Conte’s students.

Eriksen scored the second time after three matches in the Europa League

Inter could have sealed a 3-0 victory if Alexis Sanchez took better advantage of the situation at the last minute. A Chilean player’s ball misses the goal.

Inter opponents in the quarterfinals are Rangers or Bayer Leverkusen. In the first leg, Leverkusen beat home host Rangers 3-1. The quarter-final of Inter will take place at Merkur Spielarena, Dusseldorf, Germany on August 10.
